Diana-Oasis Mini Charity *** A Smile for a Kid ***
No worries friends, we are not going to ask you for any funds!
Absolutely no money / cash involved - Just little gifts from people with a heart for kids!
We are also not planning to appear on the weekly social pages of the Pattaya press.
There is plenty of that already in this town!
Since our opening 4 years ago, Meow and her staff have done a yearly visit to one of the smaller orphanages and/or handicapped homes in the area, to treat the kids to a nice
meal with desserts and bring them some simple toys and presents, to give back
a little to the local community in need.
We have now decided to take this a small step further as an ongoing mini charity as we call it:
So often we tend to forget how lucky we have been, growing up in safety and comfort and having had the chance to get a decent education, food on the table, time to play.
However, let us not forget, even in the tourist and industry rich Thailand, there is still many underprivileged families and usually it is the kids, their daily life, their education, their happiness, that suffer most and this severely cuts down on their chances to a
productive and happy life.
We are not as naive to think we were able to change the big issues here, other powers are needed for that. But we know, that once in a while, we can make a small contribution
and difference and put a smile on a kids face.
For this, we are going to ask you for a little favor, if you happen to agree with
our brief thoughts above:
As of June 1. 2011, under the initiative of Meow (our manager and pearl of Oasis),
we will gladly accept for collection:
Little or bigger Toys (Toy cars, stuffed animals, a doll, how about a little kangorooh from the great country of Australia or a little alligator from FL?), Schooling supplies (i.e. Pens, Coloring pencils, Coloring books etc.), Educational Supplies (i.e. simple English books with pictures), Simple clothes (i.e.T-Shirts, Shorts, Sandals etc.), Simple Electronic Devices (i.e. Radios, Walk-men, MP-3 Player etc.) and more....
Your fantasy is the limit, make it personal, maybe something typical from your home country.
This is not about size and value, but about: Making that little difference! These kids don't care about brands names and expensive items, they are grateful for things we would not even consider for ourselves or our kids.
Maybe next time you visit us, YOU remember this and drop of your own personal, little contribution to make a kid smile @ Diana-Oasis. You might have brought it from your home country or just picked up around the corner for a few Baht.
We have some small cards handy, where you might note your name, your nationality and a couple of words for the happy kid, who will receive your gift.
All donations will be sorted, stored and whenever a decent number has been accumulated, Meow will pick an institution such as below and pay them a visit with some staff:
- Children's Ward at Chonburi Cancer Hospital
- Kids at the Banglamung Public Hospital
- Any of the smaller Orphanages in the area or upcountry
- Kid's Aids Hospices or even individual cases as we know of them.
etc.
Your grateful Meow & Diana-Oasis Team
