Our kitchen crew has now been with us for 3 months. They are doing a fine job, not bad for not having a clue about Falang food when they arrived first from Chiang Rai. They are are getting a lot of compliments and Meow is not far to make up for the occasional mistakes by the staff, often caused by communication problems.

Nov. 2009* The season for us has started very early and after a strong year we are very well
booked into spring.
Dec. 2009* In the middle of high season. Lots of good people in Oasis Restaurant, enjoying good
food and drinks at very fair prices. Just acquired a couple more studios and refurbished
them, so we have some selective openings for the season. Please book early, we hate to
tell you, we are full! Please be patient with your food during "rush-hour"! Anything goes
wrong, remember we are in Thailand! We will make up for it! Tell our cashier or
manageress! Please order clearly and repeat, to avoid mistakes or speak Thai, then
there won't be any trouble!
Jan. 2010* New...Just installing a "Load Balanced" Hotspot-WIFI system with 10MB Premium! But,
don't forget! This is Thailand and there will always be interruptions or slowdowns with
internet service. We do our best to upgrade whenever there is new technology! BTW -
Most of the problems turn out to be problems with the customer's computer or the
external Internet connection. This is out of our control! Sorry!

Aug. 2010* Another very long and annoying period of non-stop trouble with ADSL. Very common in the
over-developed Pattaya. This time the central area is affected with hundreds of accounts o
out for hours and days. Since we are pretty much helpless and at the mercy of the
providers, itis very frustrating for us and for our customers. We have once more decided to
invest in another upgrade to our system, which has its own server, hot-spot software and a
double load balanced routing unit. On Mon August 2. we ordered a separate line with CAT
(At moment the most reliable provider) and we expect this account to be working from Aug.
11th.
We then have 3 providers, which should keep us going, even when others are offline.
For people who are very mobile and want to take their laptop to the beach or islands: You
can get very affordable air-card/USB-Sticks, re-loadable at minimal cost and reasonable
speed. Meow can advise you on current promotions.

medical care has become very expensive in Thailand and without cash $ or a good
insurance plan you might end up in a public hospital in case of an emergency. We speak
from experience and strongly advise anybody to have good insurance coverage. We are
always happy to keep a copy of your policy and/or emergency contacts on file.
We hope, we will never need to use them, but unfortunately this is not always the case
and we have had our share of sad cases.

Warning! Warning! In the last 10 days, 7 people staying in Diana-Estate, have fallen victim
to various ATM scams, being perpetrated here on Soi Boukao. One of the criminals is
described a short dark-skinned male, probably Algerian, initially wearing a bike helmet. The
second one as a arab/darkish male in his forties, tall and heavyset.
Their scam is "Hello, you left some money in the ATM, handing you a 100 or 1000 Baht bill
Baht bill....Do not go back to the ATM, or let the guy get close to you. He might already have
skimmed your card and will be trying to get your PIN. There is too many variations to
explain them here in detail...... Be alert if ANYBODY approaches you near an ATM.
Update: 1 of the gang has been arrested as he tried to ripp-off an Englisman on Soi Diana
Inn. The group, Algerian looking is still active!

by all of us, has passed away after short illness. Gil choose to stay with us until the last

Oasis WIFI system flawless for 5 months already, thanks to our load balanced and
multiple provider system. We are online when others are off!!! We keep updating as new
hardware becomes available and we have ordered a few additional access-points already
to improve signal strength in dead-spots. All our studios have Free WIFI!
**No restaurant serves quality, tasty food at our great prices. Give us a try. All our food is
prepared fresh, please be a little patient during rush hours. Ask for our Discount card and
make sure you hand it to our staff, when you claim your free meal!
With our manager Meow personally supervising the kitchen and also filling in for cooks,
our food is consistently good. Thank you for the many compliments we are getting!
Please don't forget that you are in Thailand and if you don't speak enough Thai, please
speak basic, simple English, point out your order if you feel staff did not understand you.
Some of the Swiss/English-German/English and certain dialects are very hard to
understand for the staff, even for native English speakers. They are dealing with around
15 different nationalities and this must be confusing and difficult.

***Yes, quiet a few people already have left their emergency contacts and health insurance
details with us. This way we have some basic information in case of severe illness or
accidents and can help you more efficient in case of an emergency. They do happen,
unfortunately and you don't want to be caught without good health insurance. The average
daily charge in an ICU unit is about 60'000 Baht, trauma or other major surgeries can run
anywhere from 250'000 - 2 Mio!

Unfortunately free food keeps attracting the wrong people, too nowhere more than in
Pattaya. We call them freeloaders in English or Ballonfahrer in German. So we might
have to reconsider the future structure of our **Free Barbecue** and maybe go "invitation

***Einmal mehr! Vorsicht mit Krankenversicherungen. Immer wieder geraten naive Leute,
die denken, man komme weg mit einer Billigversicherung oder gar ohne Versicherung, in
massive Schwierigkeiten. Wir kennne viele solche trauerige Faelle. Nach wie vor ist eine
lange bestehende, gute Auslandversicherung von/ in Ihrem Heimatland die beste Wahl.
Gute internationale, sog. Expats-Versicherungen kosten mind. 5000-8000$ / Jhr. ohne
USA Deckung. Vermeiden Sie sg. Gruppenversicherungen, die haeufig erst ihre eigenen
Interessen abdecken, bevor Patienteninteressen via Rueckversicherung wahrgenommen
werden.

***Chinese New Year over and finally traffic slowing down somewhat. We are still full
and getting first reservations for the summer season. The 2011/12 season at this point
about 2/3 booked already. Yes, we keep waiting lists and yes, we will contact you, if any

Scandinavians.
*** Our staff is dealing with guests of about 20 different nationalities, many of whom speak
not 1 word of Thai and very limited English. We make an effort to get things right all

not 1 word of Thai and very limited English. We make an effort to get things right all

to many, many inquires and unfortunately also to some repeat customers, who were
late with their bookings. We are very sorry for this.

***An always hot question with Thai hotels. "How do you charge extra days on a monthly
stay?" There is only one correct answer for us @ Oasis: We charge the pro rata rate of
your monthly fee! Why would we punish a long-term customer by charging him the
a higher daily rate, if he stays some extra days!? We want you to be happy and come
back.
I.e.: Let us assume you stay with us at a monthly rate of 15'000 + E/W and your stay
exceeds the month by 4 days, the bill will be done that way: 15'000 : 30 X 4 days - The
4 days extra will be charged at 2000 Baht total + E/W.
***We have just now reduced the security deposit to 5000 Baht, fully refundable. In 3.5 yrs.
we had NO disagreements with any customers about damages or such. There were a
few minor incidents, which can and will happen. If an accident happens, we will
resolve this together with our guest in a fair manner without any extra charges or rip-
offs. The occasional broken (dropped) remote, a damaged or lost towel or similar
will be replaced at the lowest cost possible with the original bill provided.

re-cabling all units, replacing boosters and such and we have now about 65 channels, many suitable
for foreigners in quite good quality in the Estate. Sophon Cable Channels
*** Don't be upset if the Estate cuts down trees regularly and sometimes drastically. Termites
eat away on branches and the heavy branches present a danger to people and cars. The trees
grow back fast in the tropics and need a good trimming. We leave this to the gardeners and don't
get involved and have no involvement with this.. Thanks.
*** Please do not feed the pigeons, they are a pest and destroy everything with their p.....p....., also
known as shi.....! They love to build their nest in the compressor units. This advise is for residents,
not Oasis guest. Our aircons get serviced regularly.

a nice place for you. We are very flexible and appreciate your business.

*** As we have mentioned before, all our air-cons are split type and very economical. Reasonable
settings, usually *24-26 C* and fan on *auto* help to keep the electric bill very reasonable and the
temperature within your settings. The computer decides when to start the compressor, which
is outside your room and is the part that consumes the main power, not the inside fan unit.
If you set your temperature to 18 or 20 C, keep your windows open etc., the compressor will run
continuously and your bill will be higher....
The same goes for the hot water heater. If you care about your electric bill, don't waste hot water.
You are welcome to check the meters yourself, they don't lie and they don't cheat, believe us.
In fact they (the meters) are one of the few items in Thailand that really work reliable. Monthly bills for
for our studio, depending also on season/weather can be anywhere from 600-2000 (high end), figure
about 40% more for the double unit. Unit prices in the Estate are 6 Baht/KW and 34/m3 water, which
is very reasonable.

*** Playing golf: Look here for an oversight: Pattaya Golf There are many places in the Soi Bouakoa
area to book tours or best join the Pattaya Sports Club, which is close to Diana-Oasis, to get great
discounts. Playing individual means higher cost for transportation which is not cheap. Joining a
group brings the cost down a lot. Sorry we are not golfers and can not help you much more in this
respect, but you will find easy access here in Pattaya.

of the rainy season. This job is being done by a contractor who understands the need to maintain

stronger and greener. We understand, that this job was researched for a while and that it will be
supervised by several owners. Thank you for their efforts to keep the Estate nice for all of us!

months to grow back healthy again, before making any judgment.
*** New Oasis-Hotspot / WIFI : Up and running without any problems for 1 year now! Good decision to
get our own LINUX server and load balance with the 2 main providers in town. Unlike others we have
never been offline for many months! Our customers get some of the best speed/pings in any
Hotspot/Shared system in Pattaya. We are always upgrading when available and monitoring
the system continuously.

2 minutes walking distance and you have the choice of sports-bars, several new and very popular (half the price of Walking Street) Gogos, restaurants, open air bars and much more and you are only minutes away from the new Central Mega Mall. If you heading to South Pattaya, just jump on the Songtew outside the gate and it will drop you off almost in front of WS for all but 10 Baht.

In all these years we have had only 4 no-shows. So we thank you for informing us if you missed your plane, got ill or have to cancel or delay or change your trip.

***WARNING! Another (long-time & experienced) Pattaya visitor has been drugged and relieved of ALL his valuables in his room this week. It was not one of our guest, as we frequently warn them and have security notices up in all our studios.
We are very sorry for his terrible experience and his loss.
This time the holidaymaker took a "lady" from just outside the Estate to get a massage. He woke up 12 hours later with anything of value in his room gone. Including the safe was emptied out. These drugs are very fast acting and confuse the victim within minutes of taking them (usually in coffee or drink offered by visitor..) and he could even remember of having talked with the lady semi-conscious and given her the code to the electronic safe!
The Estate has good CCTV and the security had her (fake?stolen?) ID details written down. Hardly ever get these people caught or anything recovered anyhow.
Be smart - Don't become the next victim!

*** The worst flood in our 14 yrs. in Pattaya: Here the first pictures, which look harmless to the reality.
Click here It started midnight and stopped only around 14.00 today, combined with a high tide, the
floods had nowhere to go and are now at 17.00 still quite high. The usual chaos with hardly any
coordinated actions. Plenty of fish (from flooded ponds?), snakes and rats around.
Oasis had water just up to the big steps into the restaurant, gosh were we happy to have those
"over-sized" steps this time. Some tenants on ground floor not so lucky. Clean-up is ongoing &
then we just wait for the next one, as there is not much we can do about it. Never a boring day
in paradise.

*** We really have been spoilt the last 22 months with a nearly flawless WIFI performance. Thanks
to our 3-provider system, we have not been offline ever, compared to many "offs" of other
systems. The last few days our AP Hotspot 1 acted up and made it difficult to connect or performed
slowly. We still don't know 100% what caused this. Possibly some strong interference or similar.
Hotspot 1 is now functioning well and fast again, we will keep an eye on it. A tip for the non-experts:
If you experience connection problems: 1. Restart your computer or disable/re-enable your WIFI
adapter. 2. Try to connect and right click WIFI icon bottom right, hit "repair". This will reset your
laptop WIFI adapter and in most cases allow then to connect to any AP again.
Our WIFI is one of the fastest, most up to date systems available here. Don't forget. Your
computer or the website you are trying to reach is as much part of the quality, speed of connection
as the system you log on to. We are happy to give outsiders, that visit our Oasis restaurant, free
access to the internet.

Thanks to the visison of the Irish owner & his team, Oasis has become a very popular meeting point for residents and visitors. We provide a large choice of quaity food, do room-service and have many regulars, also elderly people, who don't like to venture out often anymore. Our staff takes care of sick people, brings them food to the room and Meow is happy to help out with Doctor appointments and pharamacy runs. All part of the Oasis' service. us well into the night. Thanks for your patience. It is quite a task to get things done properly in this
country. Europe seems like paradise in hindsight. But, no doubt we have some other advantages
here.
*** With 4 years on the clock, we have learned that WIFI problems are often on user's side. We get
usually notified quickly by some of our regular users, if there is anythig wrong with an AP.
WIFI is a 2-way street. Our transmitters emit 1000 MW average with a high gain panel antenna,
whilest your laptop does max. 50-200 MW, often with a limited antenna. It gets even more drastic
with netbooks, tablets or WIFI phones. We have some options if you experience connection
problems, but we are not computer experts and we ask you for a little patience during rush hours in
high season. We will help you as quick as possible.
Try first a restart; a right click on the WIFI symbol > Repair; remove the Hotspot from the list and
re-connect or just bring your laptop down to us, best around 5pm.
Windows XP & 7 produce far less trouble than Vista. We can show you a shop where you get a
complete, reliable new-install for any OP system for only 300 Baht.
*** ATTENTION!!!!!! The ATM-Mafia is back in action. 2 of our customers got scammed (skimmed..)
by two Algerian looking men quite agressively the last 2 days.. They are active on all ATM's on Soi
Bouakao, but especially so around the Estate.
Don't let anybody come close to you at any ATM. If you are in doubt, hit the red CANCEL button, get
your card and leave. If you had any kind of contact with these guys at the ATM, they most probably
have your card skimmed already and watched your PIN or even recorded it on a wireless mini
camera. If in doubt, immediately cancel your ATM card. Don't accept any help from anybody at
any ATM. That is one of their many tricks.
It takes them only about 1-2 hours to duplicate your card and empty your account. We personally
know of 9 cases and one of us was present when one of the gang was arrested about 9 month ago.
Check prior warnings on this site. These guys are very good at what they do!

*** ATTENTION!!!!!! The ATM-Mafia is back in action. 2 of our customers got scammed (skimmed..)
by two Algerian looking men quite agressively the last 2 days.. They are active on all ATM's on Soi
Bouakao, but especially so around the Estate.
Don't let anybody come close to you at any ATM. If you are in doubt, hit the red CANCEL button, get
your card and leave. If you had any kind of contact with these guys at the ATM, they most probably
have your card skimmed already and watched your PIN or even recorded it on a wireless mini
camera. If in doubt, immediately cancel your ATM card. Don't accept any help from anybody at
any ATM. That is one of their many tricks.
It takes them only about 1-2 hours to duplicate your card and empty your account. We personally
know of 9 cases and one of us was present when one of the gang was arrested about 9 month ago.
Check prior warnings on this site. These guys are very good at what they do!
